⭐ Sri Lanka has been a Centre Buddhist religion 69.1% and culture from ancient times. it is a multi religious and multi ethnic Nation.


⭐ religions like Hinduism 7.1%, Christianity 6.2 % Islam 7.6% and others are also there.


⭐ Here, the major social groups are the Sinhala speakers 74% and Tamil speakers 18%.

⭐ among Tamil, there are two subgroups Sri Lankan Tamils 13% and Indian Tamils 5%.
↪ Sri Lankan Tamils are the natives of the country and the rest who migrated from India during colonial times are called Indian Tamils.
↪ the main language spoken by the people are Sinhala, Tamil and English.

Here is the diverse composition of population on Sri Lanka:

Major social groups:
1. Sinhala speakers:
- 74 % (Most of them are buddhist.)

2. Tamil speakers: 
Again divided into two (Total 18%):
- Sri Lankan Tamils: 13%
- Indian Tamils: 5%
The Indian Tamils came from India to Sri Lanka as plantation workers.

There are 7% Christians who are either Sinhalese or Tamil.
