Hi,
Your answer :
On July 14, 1789, the angry people of Paris get angry, go to the Invalides to take rifles and bayonets and then to the Bastille to find powder. He wants bread, the abolition of privileges, equality before the tax, access to military, civil and ecclesiastical functions for all ... He wants to change society and eliminate injustices but remains faithful to King Louis XVI. This is the beginning of the revolt! Why such a rage for change, why the revolution? To understand, one must quickly explain the society of that time before the beginning of the revolution in July 1789.
On the eve of the revolution, France has about 26 million inhabitants.
The king, lieutenant of God, in absolute power
The society of the old regime: a complex society with its own laws and customs
The 3 major orders that divide French society before the revolution
Clergy
Nobility
The third Estate
THE KING, LIEUTENANT OF GOD, WITH ABSOLUTE POWER
In 1661, Louis XIV, after the death of Mazarin his prime minister, chose to govern alone and decided to conduct the politics of his country alone. It is an authoritarian power, an absolute monarchy that will last until 1789 with Louis XVI. He leads with the help of ministers but he decides. The king has almost all the powers. Why "almost"?
Good bye :)
