1) The first estate consisted of people from the clergy and were exempted from certain taxes.
2) The second estate constited of the nobility and royalty. They did not pay any taxes.
3) The third estate constited of the common people. All people including lawyers, small and big businessmen, etc were in this estate. They were the only people who payed taxes to the state.
