i) Dwarkanath Tagore believed that India would develop through westernization and industrialization. (ii) He invested in shipping, shipbuilding, mining, banking, plantations and insurance. (iii) Dwarkanath Tagore made his fortune in China trade before he turned to industrial investment, setting up six Joint Stock Companies in the 1830s and 1840s.OR The very first section of the underground railway in London started on 10th January, 1863. It helped to solve the housing problem in the following ways : (a) The population in the city became more dispersed.(b) Better planned suburbs were developed. (c) A good railway network enabled large number of people to live outside Central London and travelled to work.
