Effect of heating on camphor:
When camphor is heated, it changes into a gaseous state by the process of sublimation. 'Sublimation' is a process in which a solid on heating changes to the gaseous state directly without first being converted to liquid state.
When camphor is heated with heat that is high enough, it even becomes flammable and catches fire. Camphor on heating gives irritating vapours and breaks down into 'carbon dioxide' and 'carbon monoxide gases'.
