The kalinga war caused great losses to king Aksoka as well as hi opponent
Though Ashoka won the war he was deeply moved with the bloodshed on the battlefield
after the war he decided not to fight any more wars and strting working for establishing peace , he therefore built pillars in his kingdom as a symbol to represent peace
