✔️The abolition of the corn laws had these adverse effects:

➡️Food could be imported into Britain more cheaply than it would be produced within the country.

➡️As food prices fell, consumption in Britain rose. Faster industrial growth in Britain also led to higher incomes and therefore, more food imports.

➡️ British agriculture was unable to compete with foreign imports and as a result, agriculture class was hardly hit.

➡️The lands were left uncultivated and women were thrown out of work.

➡️People migrated to other places to cities or other countries in search of work.

➡️Around the world in Eastern Europe, Russia, America,
Australia, lands were cleared and food production expanded to meet the British demand.

Hope this helps you.

The British government abolished the corn laws which brought a lot of changes in the British economy:

1. Food could be imported into Britain more cheaply than it could be produced within the country.

2. British agriculture failed to compete with imports.

3. Vast areas of land were left uncultivated.

4. Thousands of men and women became unemployed.

5. This led to migration of people to the cities or overseas.
