copper electroplating, or plating copper as a coating onto another metal, is a highly refined and effective method many industries rely on. Copper's excellent thermal and conductive properties make it a particularly useful substance in numerous heating, industrial and electrical applications. Copper coatings are also commonly used in corrosion protection.

for electroplating of copper u have to take a pure metal piece of copper as cathode and the impure one as anode and copper sulphate solution as an electrolyte of the electrolytic cell. let the current pass through it for some time.

RESULTS: after some time u will observe that anode will be removed and will be deposited on cathode.

PROCESS: when electric current passes through copper sulphate solution .it diassociate into copper and sulphate ions.the copper ions are drawn to cathode get converted into atoms n deposit over it.on the other hand sulphate ions are drawn to anode, they react with the copper to make copper sulphate solution again..in this way copper from anode is removed effectively and get deposited over cathode.

hope it helps
