Rutherford gave scattering experiment , for descring of model of atom . in JJ Thomson model , configuration of electrons , what is nucleus ? , orbit, etc was not describe. but Rutherford gave full description for this phenomena if atom.

Rutherford used energetic alpha particle through a very thin gold foil and concluded the following =====

1) most of alpha particle (≈ 99%) passed undeflected , concluding that most of the space of atom are empty .

2) the rest of alpha particle were deflected by small angles , and only a very few alpha particles refracted the path (∅ = 180°) . this concluded that the positive charge and whole mass of atoms is concentrated at the small space called nucleus .

3) electrons moves in circular path called orbit , and electrons and nucleus are held together by electrostatic force of attraction .

Essential features proposed by E.Ruther ford:
1)Whole positive charge in an atom is concentrate at the center
2)the volume occupied by positive charge of s much less compared to that of electrons that is negatively charge particle

whereas Thomson earlier has said that the negatively charged particles are scattered in charged
