'La Belle Dame Sans Merci'
'La Belle Dame Sans Merci' is one of the most popular poems written by the famous Romantic poet 'John Keats'.
Keats wrote it in a ballad form after the death of his dear brother Tom.
The poem is based on the love lorne wanderings of a Medieval Knight after he has been abandoned by his lady love.
The knight had been enchanted by the most beautiful woman one can imagine. She took him on a long journey through woods and solitary places on his horse.
The knight experienced a hypnotic like spell with her. He was so charmed by her beauty that he was in a trance like situation. He was mesmerised in her world, embedded in deep love.
As if trapped in quick sand the knight experienced a strange affinity towards the beautiful lady. He was totally engrossed in her when suddenly she deserted him.
This proved to be devastating for the Knight. Unable to find her he slowly lost all his lust for life. He wandered around all the places she had taken him to in hope of finding her. But alas, she was no where in sight!
Slowly like many other knights, he became a living dead. His health deteriorated, his skin paled, there was no twinkle in his eyes.
He experienced the feeling of being a life corpse only for the beautiful lady without mercy.
