Mahatma Gandhi started a famous salt march on 12 March 1930 from his ashram at Sabarmati to gujarat coast al town of Dandi.
The march was over 240 miles and the volunteers walked for 24 days, at about 10 miles a day
and on 6 April by picking up a handful of salt, I gandhiji renounced civil disobedience movement
Programme of the movement is to defiance the salt law, Boycott of liquor and non payment of taxes and revenues
