Swaminathan had participated in the movement against the English that was taking place near his school and everybody pointed at his cap to throw it into the fire as it represented the English people attire. Swaminathan immediately threw it into the fire and thus started his protest.  

The peon pointed this out to the headmaster and Swaminathan was punished, he was not only asked to stand up on the bench along with a few others but also suspended from school.  

Swaminathan was ashamed and he did not know how to face the situation. Once, outside the school, he lifted his head high, threw his bad feelings and he finally felt relieved that he need not go to the school.
