Answer: In a clearing under the Banyan tree, the cobra and the mongoose prepared for battle. The cobra hissed and flicked its forked tongue in and out as it lifted its body six feet off the ground and extended its wide hood in response to the mongoose. As the mongoose prepared for the battle, it brushed its tail and stood the long hair on its spine. The cobra initially sought to hypnotise the mongoose into making a mistaken move by gently swaying from side to side. The mongoose, however, very deftly avoided looking the snake in the eyes. It advanced to strike, concentrated its eyes on a spot just below the cobra's hood. The mongoose bit the cobra on the back with lightning-fast motions before running away. The cobra attempted to bite the mongoose but was unsuccessful. From a cactus tree, a crow and a myna were observing this conflict. As soon as the cobra struck, they threw, but they ended up crashing into each other violently in midair. Then the mongoose jumped away and bit the cobra once again. Both the crow and the myna dove at the cobra but collided. The third time the cobra was attacked by the mongoose. When the crow again attempted to intervene, the cobra attacked it, killing it. The cobra was worn down and frail when the mongoose and it re-engaged in combat. The mongoose approached the cobra unafraid, stood up on its tiny legs, and grabbed the snake by the nose. The cobra trembled and thrashed around in fear. Even trying to coil itself around the mongoose, it was unsuccessful. The snake was struggling, but the mongoose held onto its snout until it stopped. He then pulled the snake into the bushes while holding it by the hood.
