ANSWER :- Hearing the strange noise in the corridor outside his room, Mr Otis woke up . He saw his watch and it was 1 o'clock at night. He was quite calm. Soon he heard the footsteps. So, he put on his slippers. He took a bottle of lubricator and opened the door. In the moonlit night , Mr Otis saw a frightening old man standing in front of him. His eyes burnt like coal. His garments were dirty and ragged. He wore heavy chains hung from his wrists and ankles. Evidently , it was a sound of these chains that awakened Mr Otis.
Mr. Otis moved towards the old man who was, in fact , the ghost of the house. Mr Otis was not afraid of him. He offered the ghost the lubricator and advised him to use it on his chains.
At this the ghost became angry and threw the bottle on the floor and fled down the corridor. As he reached the top of the stairs, pillows flew past his head.
The pillows passed just missing the ghost's head. The ghost became agitated and quickly vanished through the walls.
