2) It covers 72 % of the earth’s surface and around 90% of its biosphere.

3) Oceans act as a shelter for various aquatic species like whales, sharks, crabs, fishes etc.

4) The smallest ocean is the ‘Arctic Ocean’, whereas the largest one is the ‘Pacific Ocean’.

5) The Pacific Ocean covers one-third of the earth’s surface and is the deepest ocean of the world.

6) ‘Phytoplanktons’ are the small plants which live on the surface of the ocean and use sunlight for food production.

7) Oceans are the natural habitat of small as well as big marine species such as sea horses, fishes, lobsters etc.

8) There are more than 33,200 types of species of fishes discovered till now living in the oceans.

9) There is a difference of temperature in oceans; ocean surface has a high temperature, and it decreases as we go deep inside it.
