the buoyant force is acting on the upward direction whereas the force exerted by the ball is in the downward direction.the force exerted by water(,buoyant force) is much greater than the force exerted by ball .hence the ball ,start floating

if the density of object is more than the density of water ,then the object sinks .if the density of object is less than the density of water,. then it floats
