Describe the following properties of magnetic lines of forces :

• strength of magnetic field

Closed and continues curves : Magnetic lines force are closed and continues curves. Outside the magnet, they emerge from north pole and merge to the south pole. Inside the magnet, their direction is from south pole to North pole. So the magnetic lines of force has particular direction, making magnetic field as a vector quantity.

Strength of magnetic field : Relative strength of magnetic field is shown by degree by closeness of the field lines. More the close field lines, stronger will be magnetic field and vice versa. So it is clear that the strength of magnetic field is maximum at its poles than to its middle part.

Direction of magnetic field at any point of line : Direction of magnetic field at any point on the field line can be given by the direction of a Tangent drawn at that point.
