In a covalent bond, electrons are shared between two atoms. When twooxygen atoms bond together to form an oxygen molecule, they share four electrons – two from each oxygen atom.

STRUCTURE

An oxygen atom has 6 electrons in its outershell. Oxygen is in group 6 of the periodic table. two covalent bonds and make an oxygen molecule (O2). This is a picture of an oxygen molecule

☺☺hlo mate here is ur answer ☺☺

FORMATION OF OXYGEN MOLECULE :

☆. Electronic configuration of' O' ( oxygen) is 1s2, 2s2, 2px2, 2py1, 2pz1.

☆ . If the py orbital of one' O' atom along internuclear axis , a sigma py _ py bond is formed.

☆ . pz orbital of oxygen atom overlaps laterally , perpendicular to inter nuclear axis giving a pi py_ pz bond .

☆ . so o2 molecule has a double bond between two atoms .
