DESCRIBE THE FRENCH DIVISION OF SOCIETY. Name the three division of French society and describe each one of them

The french society was divided into 3 estates,they were clergy,nobility and 3rd estate.

Clergy consisted of high priest and they did not have to pay tax.

Nobility consisted of the king and the people who were very rich and wealthy and even they don't have to pay taxes.

The 3rd estate consisted of peasant,farmers,lawyers,and some middle class ministers etc and they all had to pay taxes.

The French society was divided into the three categories:-

1. Clergy: the clergy were subdivided into 2 groups; The Higher Clergy controlled the churchs, educational institutions and common people were hatred about them, The Lower Clergy served to people in true sense of term.

2. Nobles: the nobles were subdivided into 2 groups i) the court nobles & ii) the provincial nobles. They were also exempted from paying taxes.

3. The common people including from peasants to middle class people who were forced to pay taxes in form of "taille" and "tithes".
