At the beginning of the play, we witness the friendship and loyalty between the two friends, Antonio and Bassanio. Antonio's loyalty is shown when he signs the bond for the sake of Bassanio's happiness. Bassanio returns his feelings with equal ardour. Just after winning Portia ,when he comes to know the danger to Antonio's life, he leaves everything and sets off to Venice
