Describe the function of placenta and umbilical cord.

placenta is attached to uterus wall and it is the place where exchange of nutrients and gases takes place between mother and foetus.
umblical cord is connection between placenta and foetus. It helps in transportation of nutrients and gases from foetus to mother and vice versa
