Basically, plastids can be classified into three types on the basis of pigments- chloroplasts, chromoplasts and leucoplasts.

1. Chloroplasts - These are the types of plastids in plant cells which contain chlorophyll and other photosynthetic pigments that help the plant in making its own food through photosynthesis.

2. Chromoplast - Chromoplasts are coloured plastids, containing coloured pigments like carotene (orange), xanthophylls (yellow) etc. These pigments are responsible for the colour of plants.

3. Leucoplast - These are white or colourless plastids and do not contain any pigment. The leucoplasts store starch and other storage products.

Hope it helps !
