Answer :-

The functions of the Golgi complex are as follows :-

  • They help in the formation of Polysaccharides.

  • They help in the formation of Glycoprotien (through the process of Glycoxylation).

  • They help in the formation of Lipids (through the process of Glycoxidation)

  • They play an important role in the process of Cell secretion.

  • They work as Packaging Stations.

  • They secrete lubricants in root cap region.

  • They help in the synthesis of carbohydrates and Tectins which form cellulose.

  • They help in the modification of newly synthesized protiens.

  • They help in the formation of Lysosomes ( suicidal bags of the cell).

  • They play an important role in the formation of the Plasma Membrane.

Extra Information :-

  • The Golgi Complex was discovered by "Camillo Golgi".

  • Golgi Complex is also known as "Golgi Apparatus" or "Golgi Body".

  • The *marker enzyme* of the Golgi Complex is "Glycosyl Transferase".

*Note -: Marker enzymes are the enzymes which are found in only one particular organelle of the cell and thus, these enzymes justify the significance of that particular organelle.
