Answer :-
The functions of the Golgi complex are as follows :-
- They help in the formation of Polysaccharides.
- They help in the formation of Glycoprotien (through the process of Glycoxylation).
- They help in the formation of Lipids (through the process of Glycoxidation)
- They play an important role in the process of Cell secretion.
- They work as Packaging Stations.
- They secrete lubricants in root cap region.
- They help in the synthesis of carbohydrates and Tectins which form cellulose.
- They help in the modification of newly synthesized protiens.
- They help in the formation of Lysosomes ( suicidal bags of the cell).
- They play an important role in the formation of the Plasma Membrane.
Extra Information :-
- The Golgi Complex was discovered by "Camillo Golgi".
- Golgi Complex is also known as "Golgi Apparatus" or "Golgi Body".
- The *marker enzyme* of the Golgi Complex is "Glycosyl Transferase".
*Note -: Marker enzymes are the enzymes which are found in only one particular organelle of the cell and thus, these enzymes justify the significance of that particular organelle.
