Explanation:

Heart, the mesodermally derived organ, is situated in the thoracic cavity, in between the two lungs, slightly tilted to the left. It has the size of a clenched fist.

FUNCTIONS OF THE HEART:

The right auricle and right ventricle receive blood with carbon dioxide(CO

) from all parts of the body. The collected blood is then pumped to the lungs for purification. In the lungs, the exchange of gases takes place and purified blood is sent back to the left auricle. It pumps it to the left ventricle, which in turn pumps off the purified blood to all parts of the body through arteries.

Explanation:

It's the muscle at the centre of your circulation system, pumping blood around your body as your heart beats. This blood sends oxygen and nutrients to all parts of your body, and carries away unwanted carbon dioxide and waste products
