1. They evolve hydrogen gas on reacting with active metals.

2. They form salt and water when react with alkali.

3. They evolve carbon dioxide when react with metallic carbonates or bicarbonates.

4. They evolve sulphur dioxide when react with metallic sulphites.

5. They evolve hydrogen sulphide when react with metallic sulphides.
