The factors which support large scale farming are: weather is moderate;sufficient rainfall;soil rich in humus and the most crucial factor is that the prairies grass roots are very good at reaching the ground water and most grains are grasses.
The Prairies are endowed with rich deposits of natural resources. Also people living there have developed scientific methods of agriculture such as tractors, harvesters etc. These factors surely support extensive agriculture in Prairies and make it one of the major food producing areas in the world.
