Location of India with respect to latitudes and longitudes:-

  • Equator- It is a horizontal line(running below India) dividing the globe into northern and southern hemispheres. All lines parallel to equator are called as latitudes.
  • Tropic of Cancer is a line parallel to the Equator at 23-1/2 degrees North. This line divides India into tropical part (southern region which will be hot) and sub-tropical part (northern region).
  • Tropic of Cancer cuts India through eight states Gujarath, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chattishgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tripura and Mizoram.
  • Prime Meridian-It is a vertical line at 0″ East (running through Europe and Africa) dividing the globe into eastern and western hemispheres.
  • India lies in Eastern Hemisphere with respect to Prime Meridian and in Northern Hemisphere with respect to Equator.

India stretches from 8°04' north latitude in the south to 37°06' north latitude in the north, i.e. the mainland of India extends from Kanyakumari in the south to Kashmir in the north.

Hope this helped ya buddy!! :)
