Tropical evergreen forests can be moist, in the case of rainforests, or drier with seasonal rain. Both types of tropical evergreen forests have many species of animals. Rainforest animals include monkeys, parrots, smaller animals and large numbers of insects.

The common animals found in these forests are elephants, monkey, lemur and deer. The one-horned rhinoceros are found in the jungles of Assam and West Bengal. Besides these animals, plenty of birds, bats, sloth, scorpions and snails are also found in these jungles.

Large animals (like jaguars) generally live on the forest floor, but others (like howler monkeys and sloths) are arboreal (living in trees). Insects are found almost everywhere. Many species of rainforest animals are endangered and many other have gone extinct as the number of acres of rainforests on Earth decreases.

Tropical Evergreen forests of India are found in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Western Ghats, which fringe the Arabian Sea, the coastline of peninsular India, and the greater Assam region in the north-east. Small remnants of evergreen forest are found in Odisha state.

These evergreen forests are found in warm and wet regions. These are found where the rainfall is more than 200cm, with a short dry season. These are found in the rainy slopes of western ghats, plains of West Bengal and Odisha and the North-eastern India.
