The sailors had no water to drink,no food to eat,no shade to cool themselves from the sun they all at first agreed that the mariner had done good by killing the albatross but then they started blaming the mariner for the state they were in. They hung the dead albatross around the mariner's neck instead of the cross for him to never commit such a single ever again.

When the ship was stuck in the silent sea, there were no sails or wind to move the ship forward. The mariner and his crew were stuck there for days and were slowly running out of resources. They were slowly dying of thirst.

The sea was rotting too. They were experiencing drought as if they were chocked with soot. The sky was so hot that the sun was red in colour. At night , when they lit up the torches, the fires looked like fires of death. They couldn't even talk to each other. The crew blamed the mariner for all the problems they were facing.
