The Haversian system is the essential functional unit of compact bone.
It is also called Osteons.
Haversian systems are unevenly cylindrical structures that are typically several millimeters long and around it’s width is 0.2 mm in diameter.
These are found in many bones mostly of mammals and some birds, reptiles, and amphibian species.
It is named after the inventor, Clopton Havers.
