Anne Frank hid in her father’s office building with her family and another family, to escape persecution by the Nazis.

It was a large warehouse building with offices on the second floor. A wooden staircase led to the third floor which led to a landing with rooms on either side. One of the doors led to a space and flight of steps and narrow hallway which was Anne Frank’s living room. In a small room next to it was the room for young ladies of the other family, with a windowless washroom and a sink. A door in the corner of the room led to the toilet and another to Anne’s sister’s room. Above this room, was the room for the father of the young ladies of the other family. It also served as a kitchen as it had a stove and a sink. Their son was given the side room.

The annexed had an attic and a loft.
