All inessential comforts and luxuries were avoided by his father and he lived a simple life
Explanation:
- Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was born in Rameswaram. He lived in his ancestral house along with his parents, Jainulabiddin Marakayar (father) and Ashiamma Jainulabiddin (mother) and four elder brothers and a sister.
- The house was a ‘Pucca’ house made of limestone and bricks situated on the Mosque street in Rameswaram as described by Dr. Kalam.
- He further added that all the inessential comforts and luxuries were avoided by his father and he lived a simple life. However, his father provided them all the necessities such as food, clothes, medicines, etc. Near Dr. Kalam’s house, there was a pond ‘Rama Tirtha’ and his family used to arrange boats with a special platform on which people used to carry idols of Lord Ram from the temple toward ‘Rama Tirtha’.
