Java is a part of Indonesia. During the First World War, Indonesia was under the colonial occupation of the Netherlands. The First World War did not have any specific impact on Indonesia. However, it did have some general impact on Indonesia as part of the weakening of all colonial powers.

1. European colonial powers were weakened as a result of the First World War. As a result, their control over colonies could not be as strong as earlier. This was true for the Netherlands and Indonesia.
2. During the war, a nationalist movement started in Indonesia that demanded independence. The Dutch colonial government, however, repressed the movement after the war.
3. The First World War contributed to the rise of communism all over the world. Communism also grew in Indonesia.
