After the kalinga war ,Emperor Ashoka was deeply affected by the looking at the crying of people and also the dead bodies.
Due to this Emperor Ashoka decided to give up war and started working towards the welfare of people.
He started following Buddhism and followed the path of non-violence .
He had spread the message of peace and Buddhism all over India.
He had also sent his son Mahendra, to Sri Lanka to spread the message of Buddhism.
