Agriculture plays a vital role in theIndian economy. Over 70 per cent of the rural households depend onagriculture as their principal means of livelihood. Agriculture, along with fisheries and forestry, accounts for one-third of the nation's GDP and is its single largest contributor.

the Indian economy is highly dependent on the agriculture because the agriculture is the main proffesion of our country and the main profession of a country is the main reason behind the success and the failure of that country's economy.

In the present situation the agricultural production is the backbone of the rural economy and the post processing , import-export of the agricultural products are important part of the urban economy.

That's why agriculture is very important for the Indian economy.
