First of all let ask know the meaning of '' common land '' it can be defined as a land owned collectively by a number of persons, or by one person, but over which other people have certain traditional rights.
Thus we can see the meaning itself defines the importance of common land. It was the most useful resource in the England at that period. It comprised of long vast areas which were opened for the common people. The resources of these lands were utilized by the people of that place and in turn they would work there and nature the environment.
