1. The All India Congress committee met at Bombay on 8 August 1942. It passed the famous Quit India Resolution and asked the English to quit India.
2. The Government soon arrested Gandhiji and all other members of the congress.
3. The congress was declared illegal.
The government adopted to crush this movement. The government committed untold atrocities on the innocent people and succeeded in putting down the movement.
The importance of this movement was:
1. It was a clear manifestation of public faith and courage .
2. The people took the courage to challenge the British government and throw out the foreign imperialists.
