Describe the important steps in a muscles contraction
Answers
In muscle contraction :-
The muscles has specialized cells which change both their shape and arrangement of their cells.
- Therefore, muscles contract with respect to stimulus.
Answer :
The important steps muscle contraction are :-
1. Contraction of muscle is initiated by a signal sent by the central nervous system (CNS) via a motor neuron and reach the neuromuscular junction.
2.Then the neurotransmitter (Acetyl choline) produces an action potential in the sarcolemma.
3. This action potential then gets spread through the muscle fibres.
4. Calcium ions into the sarcoplasm is released.
5.Increase in levels of calcium ions takes place and then calcium binds with subunit of troponin on the actin filaments thus removing the masking for active sites of myosin.
6. The energy utilised from ATP hydrolysis, the myosin head now binds to the exposed active sites on actin to form a cross bridge.
7. The actin filaments are pulled. And at this point it is the stage that the contraction of the muscles occur.
