a. The Indian Forest act of 1865 established British control over the forests.
b. It allowed  the colonial government to declare any part of forest as government controlled forest and debar entry of the villagers.
c. It also allowed them to make rules to manage them.
d. It was the precursor to 1878 act that divided the forest into three categories that is Reserved, protected and village forests.
e. The act provided for the proper management of forest cover to meet the  growing British need for timber and other products.
