The poem is an apologue on the journey of life of a man, and the poem introduces a man who was standing on two logs in a river. Rumi said that the man’s downstream journey will be happy if he floats with the current while humming in the forthwith. Floating in the current metaphorically implies celebrating the present, and the two logs signify binaries or dualities which are confronted by the traveller.
