SUMMARY :-

In 'the laburnum top' Ted hughes describes how the laburnum tree top is silent without any activity and life in the absence of the goldfinch. The coming of the sweet singing yellow bird makes all the difference. The tree comes to life with chirpings and chittering and trillings. The whole tree trembles and thrills.

After the arrival of goldfinch, the Laburnum which was still and motionless, comes to life. It is full of sweet sounds and activities now, it flirts out to a branch end snd finally launches away towards the infinite sky.

Before flying away, the bird hides itself entering the thickness of leaves and branches. The laburnum tree comes back to its old silence and emptiness again. The bird has taken away all sweet sounds and exciting moments with it.
