Answers
After 15 years, the Lawyer in the story "The Bet" deteriorated physically. His cheeks sunk deep into his teeth, his eyes rested inside the dark rings, and his body became more skinny. Apart from these physical changes, in the long journey of fifteen years within the cell, the lawyer was left with loneliness. He had no one with himself. He regularly read more and more books which were his only mates in the prison. Due to this habit, the mental state of the lawyer enhanced making him more wise and spiritual about the world and life. Moreover, he refused to accept any material possession, thereby rejecting any money from the Banker. Instead of rebuking the confinement, the Lawyer praised the life in the cell as it made his life richer in regards to values and ideologies.
