Answer:

1- Flora and fauna refer to plants and animals in the broadest sense of the words, encompassing pretty much all life on Earth.

2- Flora is all the plant life present in a particular region or time, generally the naturally occurring (indigenous) native plants. The corresponding term for animal life is fauna. Flora, fauna, and other forms of life, such as fungi, are collectively referred to as biota.

3- The people of the Amazon Basin grow tapioca, pine apple and sweet potato. Cash crops such as coffee, maize and cocoa are also grown.

FLORA AND FAUNA :

The biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest is absolutely staggering. It’s 5.5 million km² covers 40% of South America and nine countries. It contains nearly 10% of all known wildlife species with new discoveries being made on average every three days. Amazonian tribes who have never been contacted are still being found in the very depths of the rainforest. It plays a critical part in stabilising the world’s climate and regulating global and regional carbon and water cycles. The weird wonderful, and sometimes dangerous, species of the Amazon are endlessly fascinating. To celebrate this vitally important cog of the planet’s biosphere, we’ve taken a look at the flora and fauna of this astonishing rainforest.

OCCUPATION:

The people living in many regions of the Amazonia have the forests cleared for soya bean plantations and ranching. Some of the inhabitants also harvest wild rubber latex and Brazil nuts. Lumbering or agriculture is also one of the occupations in the Amazonia.

MAIN CROPS:

The people of the Amazon basin mainly grow tapioca, pineapple and sweet potato. They also grow cash crops like coffee, maize and cocoa.
