Birsa Munda was born into a family of Mundas. Mundas was a tribal group lived in Chota Nagpur. At that time, the tribal people were not happy because of the changes that happen in their life under the British rule. Their livelihoods were getting destroyed, and their religion was on the verge of danger. He claimed himself as the messenger of good who had come to save the people from trouble and to protect them from dikus or outsiders. He considered Hindu landlords and missionaries as outsiders and wanted them to stop affecting the lives of the Mundas.
