The culture of Punjab encompasses the spoken language, written literature, cuisine, science, technology, military warfare, architecture, traditions,sacrifices, values and history of the Punjabi people native to the northern part of the Indian subcontinent. The term 'Punjabi' can mean both a person who lives in Punjab and also a speaker of the Punjabi language. This name originates from the Persian language 'panj', (five), and 'ab', (water). In Rigvedic times, this area was called Sapta Sindhu or 'Seven Rivers' illustrating the extent of Undivided Punjab. Indus River (the largest river in this five river system), and the five other rivers to the south eventually join Indus or merge into it later in the downstream of the Punjab valley. All the rivers start and flow out of the Himalayas. These other five rivers are Jhelum River, Chenab River, Ravi River, Beas River and Sutlej River.

The history of Punjab starts with the name itself. It is a combination of two words PUNJAB. Here, PUNJ means Five and AAB means River. So basically, it is the land of five rivers. But after 1947 Punjab divided in two parts and its rivers also(But still people of Punjab don't change their lifestyle)

I am thrilled to answer this question. Living here, I have noticed many things.

Life in Punjab is Amaznig!!!

• A rich culture full of people with big hearts welcoming everyone to relish the warmth of the people.

• Peaceful life in villages, still joint families,love and respect for elders, but in cities the things are changing rapidly.

• Every big city has its own history behind its name. Almost every family has good background of being warriors during some point in history which makes them feel proud, that's why Punjabi's have lot of attitude, when it comes to self respect.

• There are very less beggars and people of Punjab are healthier than other states because here are lots of GURDWARAS which provide free food to all, you will see that nobody sleeps without eating food .

• Food of Punjab is awesome, there is no compliment to the food of Punjab which is so diverse than other state with Lahori, Multani, Sindhi, Amritsari, Ludhianavi etc. but my favourite one is “Makki di Rotti, Sarson da Saag with Lassi da glass.”

• There is nothing more refreshing than dip at “Pind di Motor.”

• No other songs can beat punjabi songs because punjabi songs are full of enthusiasm.

• Last but not the least Punjabi Weddings are the best.
