The Gujjar bakarwals of Jammu and Kashmir are great herders of goat and sheep. In winter they live with their herds in the low hills of shiwlaik range. The dry scrub forests provide good grazing ground for their herds. In summer , they cross the pir panjal passes and enter the Kashmir valley . They graze their cattle on lush green mountain sides. With the onset of winter , the bakarwals are on the move again and back to their winter pastures
