➡This is based on the chapter THE PORTRAIT OF A LADY by the famous , prolific writer KHUSHWANT SINGH.

⏪The author and his grandmother used to live together in the village when the authors parents had moved to the city . They shared a beautiful bond of love , care , friendship and mutual trust .

⏪The grandmother would wake the author in the morning . She would help him get ready for school. She would plaster his slate , pack his ink pen and inkpot in a bundle . She would feed him a stale chappati sores with sugar and butter .
They would carry several stale chapattis to feed the stray dogs.

⏪The grandmother would accompany the author to school . He would attend his classes and she would sit in the temple and read the scriptures.she would also help him in his lessons .

⏪Thus, they shared a deep and a beautiful bond among them . But sadly this bond was snapped when they moved to the city .
