Tribals actually depend on forest for their livelihood.The tribals viewed the forest as a source of food and shelter.Shifting or Jhum cultivation was the basic form of livelihood.Large tract of land were clear to accomodate shifting cultivation.The other needs like clothing ,meat and the materials were readily available from the forest.
