Following are the main events of the October revolution:

1. A struggle grew between Bolsheviks and the provisional government as Lenin dreaded that provisional government may establish a tyranny.

2. The Bolshevik leader Lenin urged the provisional government to accept the authority of socialist power and thus designated Leon Trotsky as the head for the military revolution to organised the capture.

3. The October uprising took place on October 24, and Kerensky, the then Prime Minister of Russia, left the city to call the force.

4. The military revolution committee took advantage of this situation and the members of the commit-tee seize the government and arrest the leaders.

5. Thereafter, the control of the city came into the hands of the committee.
