The main events that led to the February Revolution in Petrograd were :
- On 22nd February, a lockout took place at a factory on the right bank of the river Neva in Petrograd.
- On 23 February, workers in fifty factories called a strike in sympathy. In many factories, women led the strikes. Demonstrating workers crossed from the factory quarter's to the centre of the capital, The Nevskii Prospect.
- Government imposed a curfew, causing the demonstrators to disperse, but they came back on 24th and 25th.
- On the 25th February, the Tsar suspended the Duma. This caused widespread anger. Ultimately, after a resigned delegation of workers met the Tsar, he on second March, following the militaries advice.
- Soviet leaders and Duma formed a Provisional government to run the country.
